does any one have a Dogo Argentino2007-11-25 3:00:57

I am interested in any information on this breed. I would specifically interested in their temperment and how they would do with other animals. We are looking for a watchdog but we do not want something that is overly aggressive. also we have a very small dog now (as well as two cats) and it would need to get along well with them. Any info you have would be great. Thanks!

The Dogo Argentino or Argentine dogo, is a magnificent guard dog. This breed is loyal to the family, playful, and highly intelligent. Loves to kiss and cuddle with family members or those they accept. This loving dog treats his family with kindness and affection, but will protect them at all costs. This dog has been successful as a guard dog, police dog, military dog, and guide dog. Owner need to be careful on how they train these dogs. Usually they do well with other dogs(they are pack hunters) and tend to be very good with children. Other animals are kinda iffy, they tend to be good with animals they are raised with, but not with ones they are not use to. They can be the greatest dog in the world, but do need someone who is firm and consitant with training. Be very careful to find a good breeder, one that ask you alot of questions. These guys can be hyper active, and with improper breeding can be very aggresive. Dogos breed for Schutzhund or Ring Sport do not make good pets for the average owner. Hunting dogs can be good pets with enough exersize, but they do need alot!
