2 fish in a tank2007-11-24 23:09:20

well my fish have ben fighting alot and 1 is a gold fish and 1 is a savinger fish. they have ben fighting ever scince i got my goldfish. there tank is always clean . i dont get it they are not sick or any thing. please help me. im getting worried.thanx

You need to be very careful with fish. Goldfish are supposed to be community fish, but most times, i don't see them do well with any other fish other than their own breed and even then, sometimes things go wrong. The problem is that all scavenger fish are semi agressive to aggressive fish. You should never put any aggressive or semi-aggressive fish in the same tank that houses community fish. If you don't know if a fish is a community, semi-aggressive, or an aggressive fish, you should contact your local pet/fish store immediately. Another problem is that your tank is probably not nearly big enough...Common goldfish can grow to be 9" in length and depending on the breed of your scavenger fish, they can grow to be 5" or more. Until you get this situation figured out, i suggest that you separate the two fish immediatly if you have a holding tank, or another aqaurium, otherwise, your scavenger fish will kill your goldfish. Also, make sure you know what each breed of fish needs before you buy it and whether or not you are capable of providing for that fishes needs. Fish tanks can be very hard to take care of and the fish themselves can be even more challenging as they are VERY sensitive animals. Make sure you know what you're dealing with before you get into buying all kinds of fish and aquariums.
