Beta+goldfish=love
Beatas are fighinting fish. Unless you want a dead gold fish. then go for it

The betta will not harm your goldfish - bettas only attack fish that resemble other bettas. However, bettas are tropical fish while goldfish are coldwater fish, and the two require completely different water parameters.
It's so common today for many stores to sell Male Betta fish in small bowls. The stores sell them, but they don't believe the buyers will actually keep them in the small fishbowls.
How wrong they are! I've seen many kids yell Mommy, Mommy - I want that fishy! and Momma buys it for them. Where will the Betta stay? Why in that tiny little fishbowl!
However, the current Betta fish craze came into being a couple of years ago in the Crafter Community.
These Crafters made self contained environments for the Betta fishies. They'd take a nice vase, add some glass stones, put in a few nice plants that could grow in water. They'd be anchored in the glass stones.
The roots would grow around the stones and into the water. The vase would be placed into the light. And a Betta Fish would be added.
This was supposed to happen on its own:
1) The Sunlight would make the Plant grow.
2) The Sunlight would make Algae grow on the Plant's Roots.
