Bought a fish tank and i dont know what kind of fish to get

5) Figure out what level of the tank they stay in. Top dwellers like bettas, gouramis, hatchet fish, or mid-dwellers like neon tetras and other tetras or bottom dwellers like coryodras and other catfish.

(From the above list given, i'd avoid chocolate gourami as they tend to be the most delicate of gouramis, i'd also avoid discus and the rest of the cichlids until you are more knowledgeable about keeping fish. just a tip.)
