Best of luck to you.
algae. make sure tank isnt getting too much sun light. you can buy cloths or magnets with felt on that wipe it off the inside of tank.
Brown algae is common. You'll first have to remove it manually (algae scrubber or snail and/or algae eater). Here are somethings you can do to keep it from coming back:
Reduce the amount of light.
Reduce the amount of wasted food (ie don't overfeed).
Reduce fish waste by gravel syphoning regularly.
Add live plants. Plants use the nutrients that algae needs to grow.
If all of those don't work. . . use a chemical like "algae destroyer" to get rid of it.
its either algae or poop. there is nothing to worry about. you need to clean the tank and that's all you need to do.
it most likely is algae. what ever you do, dont get plecos unless you absolutely want to, they get HUGE!!,
now is your tank getting direct suinlight?? if so that could be the cause,
have you introduced any wild plants? as they can have microorganisms
or you could get an algae scrubber from the pet store and scrub the algae off the walls
There are 2 types of "algae" which can be brown.
One is diatoms or "brown algae", and one is cyanobacteria or "blue/green algae". While it can be blue/green, it can also be brown or reddish.
