Built a 250 gallon pond and the fish are dying
In fact, a good shot-gun remedy is to combine a Prazi treatment with Pro-form C or dimilin, all available on-line. The Prazi is expensive but very worth it. Then, salt your pond to .3% or even to .6%, if you don't mind a little yellowing, or perhaps some minor loss of, the plants (there are lots of calculators on the internet that will tell you how much salt this is for the size of your pond - remember to use epsom salt or some other salt with no iodine - NOT table salt!). Be sure to read all the instructions on the medications regarding water temperature, number of treatments, water changes, etc. Also, try feeding a good medicated food like Medikoi.
Also, check out www. koivet.com. It is by far the best website I have seen regarding the health and care of koi and goldfish. It is run by a veterinarian that specializes in them and it is full of all kinds of good, reliable information.
As a side note, if your two 6-year-old goldfish have barbels ("whiskers") on their mouths, they are koi.
Hope this helps. Good luck!!
