Can Guppies live in a cold water tank
Can Guppies live in a cold water tank2007-11-24 23:10:35
I want to get some guppies, I have a 50 gallon tank but it is not heated, and that tank is full, so I bought I a 10 gallon tank, do you think that I could buy guppies? and have them survive? (It is not heated but has really good filteration, and the temperature is room tempered.)
Answers:They could live as long as your house never gets truly cold. But since heaters are rather inexpensive, it seems more humane to use a heater in the tank. They are tropical fish.
What they can "suvive" in and what is actually good for them may be 2 different things.
I don't have a heater for my 10 gallon tanks, and both have tropical fish in them. Just make sure the temperature is 76-80
They will be fine. Guppies are extremely flexible as far as temperature goes, and will be fine at most stable temperatures. As long as they aren't going from 70 degrees to 90 degrees, they are fine.
