molly live in a tank alone?

Hi there, I'm new to this site but I have kept fish (tropical and live-bearers ie, mollies, swordtails etc for nearly 2 years now. I have done alot of research on fish over this time and as a rule, No fish will thrive alone. Would you like to be in a house by yourself forever? Lol, I would keep the molly with a few other mollies or other live-bearing fish like swordtails, danio's are another good fish to keep with them, here is a link to help with trying to find the best mates for your little friend, remember not to over-crowd the tank tho. And do not add more than one fish in a 2 week period or you may uspset the balance of your tank! Have fun!

I've had that problem befor. I had a baby dalmation molly in a 10 gallon tank as my first fish. I was a "young" fish, not a "fry". It was about 1/2 a cm long. I had it in there alone for about 2 weeks after cycling and it would refuse to eat. Then, I added atiquit cover and decor. He began to look at the food, but still refused to eat. I then decided to put in two very yound fancy guppies in with him. I thought that if I added a companion (or 2 in my case), It would make him more happy and make it so he would readily eat.

I feed them finely chrushed tropical flakes (almost powdered) and baby tubiflex worms. Since the guppies at right away and made the molly company, the molly joined in to feeding.

You may not have this problom; but i'm just saying. They will be much for exciting to watch if you put in some other guppies around it's size (no more than 3/4 cm bigger).

It can, and if it already is living alone keep it that way to be sure it's not swallowed by adult fish. But once it's big enough, I would be sure it's given company because fish don't like to be alone. Have you ever seen a betta in those pathetically small tanks they keep them in? They're miserable.
