Can a piranha be purchased in Colorado Springs2007-11-24 23:10:26

My goldfish kicked the bucket and I have always wanted a pet piranha. I wanted to know if they are sold as pets here.

Try calling or looking online at your state's fish, game, and wildlife office. Most of their websites usually list illegal animals to own. They should be ok there, it gets cold enough in the winter time. Most state's where they're illegal is the Southern half, where they could survive the mild winters.

Since you are asking on petqna.com for this, you are not ready do research your going to need a 150g+ and have a school of them not just one, these aren't any goldfish.

Better of getting a tiger they are much more fun at seeing them eat, piranhas don't eat live foods like in movies, well they do but thats illegal, you need to buy fish fillets and other raw meat every week which can get expensive.
