Can anyone recomend some cool freshwater fish for a 55 gallon aquarium Im bored with the usual Cichl2007-11-24 23:10:29Answers:

You could do a heavily planted tank with freshwater pea puffers. They are really fun to watch as they stalk a snail and then attack it. You could also do a spiney eel, or a black ghost knife. You could do a planted tank with orage bee shrimp and red cherry shrimp. There are rare plecos and hill stream loaches that are really cool. You could do needle fish and feed them guppies, or get some of the smaller freshwater baracudas.

Make a Native tank. Take your heater out, add a power head near the bottom with some river type round rocks. Add some Southern Redbelly Dace and Rainbow Darters and you will have a beautiful tank very few people have ever seen. Go to www.nanfa.org and they'll give you some information that will help.

Make a tank from down under. Get some of the Red Rainbows for the top and some peacock gudgeons for the bottom.
