Can anyone tell me how much water in gallons or litres my 48in x 12in x 18in fish tank can hold plez2007-11-24 23:10:29Answers:

Your tank holds 4 x 1 x 1.5 cubic feet of water i.e. 6 cubic feet.

1 cubic foot weighs 62 lb so 6 cubic feet weighs 372 lb.

1 gallon of water weighs 10 lb so there are 372/10 approx. 37 UK gallons if the tank is completely full of water one UK gallon is approximately equal to 1.2 US gallons.

If it's got gravel ornaments etc in you will have to deduct the volume of them.

1 gallon (UK) = 4.54 litres so 37 gallons = 168 litres.

by the dimensions alone, I would think you have a 50 gallon tank

divide by 1000 = 263.35 ltrs

just did this this morning for medication, it's length of tank timesed by width of tank timesed by how deep the water is, divided by 1000. This is for litres. measure in cms.

First you need to find out the cubic feet of the area that will contain water. This is cubic feet not inches. Length times Depth (front to back) times Height (L x D x H) for this aquarium: 4' x 1' x 1.5' = 6 cubic feet . Each cubic foot holds 7.5 gallons of water. Therefore 6 x 7.5 = 45 gallons.

L' x D' x H' x 7.5 = total gallons
