Can i put a pacu in a 100 gal tank with a tiger and albino oscar2007-11-24 23:10:42

The oscars are only 3-4 inches.

I wouldn't but you could. With enough filtration and at least twice a week water changes, it might work out, but I think that's a pretty cramped space for those three fish. Yes your Oscars might only be 3-4 inches now, so what do you do with them when they reach 12-18 inches? They will grow to be fairly big fish and I'd say for a pair of them so they don't fight or pollute the tank with massive waste, you'll need probably a 125 or a set up that provides at least six feet in length with a good cannister filter or two even. Just be prepared to do some more work then typical tropicals if you do it.

These fish get gigantic. They will outgrow your 100 gallon tank pretty quickly. As far as the oscar, it should be okay if it grows as fast as the pacu, but the tiger may be in trouble.

Probably not. Pacu in the wild eat fruit, but in the tank they start to go berserk and will eat anything. Also, as others have said, they get really, really, really big.

My advice: don't get one

I wouldn't suggest it, but you could. Pacus are generally peaceful and won't bully other tankmates unless they are REALLY smaller than them. I'm worrying that the oscars might bully it since oscars are one of the most aggressive fish. Try it out and see. If the pacu seems like it's getting bullied, get at least a 30 gallon tank with good filtration and place the pacu in there.

oscars can get a lot bigger than that...especially in a 100 gallon tank!
