Can i put an algae sucker fish with a goldfish2007-11-24 23:10:42Answers:

sure, the only thing i ever heard a plecostomus kill was a snail

yes,,,I have done it for years with no problem
most all algae eaters are tropical fish which require a heated tank. goldfish do better in cold water and are stressed in tropical tanks. its not a good idea to put either in the others environment.
Plecos do better in warmer waters and live happier and longer, while goldfish are cold water fish.

The correct answer is - No.

The answer your looking for and probably going to choose - yes.

Yes You can it would be a good ideal to do so gold fish drop alot of poop and it makes the tank have lots of algae in it so to keep it clean for a while get one and they will live happy together, but remember to get food for him just in case it's not enough algae. Happy fishing
Siamese Algae Eater (commonly sold as Chinese Algae eater) may attack your fish, so watch for circular marks on your other fish.

a pleco should be fine, but watch out because it is a tank buster!

You can under two conditions. One, there are only a couple of plecos who can tolerate slightly less warm water temperatures. The rubbernose pleco and the bristlenose pleco. Also, there is the weather loach. The other issue is that plecos grow to be huge. Easily 12 inches. And the weather loach can grow to about 8 inches. As goldfish already require massive amounts of water, in addition to the large pleco requiring a large amount of water, for one goldfish and one pleco, you're looking at about a minimum 30-40 gallon tank. So, if you can provide this, then you would be okay. Smaller bottom feeders that can tolerate a slightly less warm water environment are the hillstream loach and dwarf oto. With these smaller fish, you could get away with a minimum of a 20-25 gallon tank. Remember, these are all minimum requirements, not maximums. You may very well need more when these fish start getting bigger.
Hi Josh, I wouldn't-contrary to popular opinion algae suckers/Plecos/Catfish etc do not 'clean' your tank & they make terrible tank buddies for Goldfish, sometimes killing them by consistently sucking off their slime coats while increasing the bio-load on your filter.
