Can you add a filter to a 2 1/2 gall tank2007-11-24 23:10:53

I think my fish would perfer a filter but i already have a tank but it has no filter so is there anyway you can buy a filter and some how connect it to the side?

You need to buy him at least a 10 gallon tank for starters, otherwise you will stunt his growth

As for a 2.5 gallon tank, yes you can buy a filter, but only a betta is going to be happy in there

You can find a mini HOB (hangs on back) filter at most pet stores that will work for that tank.

Having said that, there are very few fish that can live and be even remotely happy in a 2.5 gallon tank. A betta is the only one I can think of offhand, and the water movement from the filter might bother him.
