Caring for betta fish

Caring for betta fish2007-11-24 23:10:59

i was gonna buy a 2 gallon tank but i just remembered i have a 10 gallon in the shed. if i dont put gravel and only add fish and water, can i simply vacuum it every 3 days? also, how many males or females can i put in it?

Answers:

You can only keep one male to any tank (no females with it). If you wanted to keep females, you could safely keep 5-6 in a ten gallon. If you keep them in multiples, and don't want to add all at one time, I'd start with a group of 3 and then add the other 2-3 later. You don't want to have just two females (one will be dominant and always pick on the other), but don't want to introduce singles either, which will be picked on by the others.

This would be true whether you use gravel or not. Since you should provide some plants (can be fakes) as hiding spots, since the females will pick on each other while establishing a pecking order, you might as well add the gravel.

Hopefully, you plan to use a filter and heater with it as well.

betta fish will eat each other if you put two in the same tank.. but its okay.. do it and watch hehehehe
if u put 2 Betta fish together they will kill them self

well two male Betta fish

beta fish fight you may not want to do that
You can put only one regardless if it's a male or female. The males are bigger, brighter and have the bigger tales. You can put it in a 2 or 10 gallon tank. I recommend gravel but you can always get the bigger marbles they sell in a pet supply store. Get a plant they like to hide under them, there use to living into run off of water in the rice fields of Japan.
first of betas are fighting fish mostly males they will kill each other secondly betas like small spaces and u can olny put one male and female per bowl and before u do that u have to introduce them frist for i few weeks before u put a male in female to live togher or they will fight but if u dont listen to me u will find dead betas and u dont wanna kill them
Gravels not too expensive just buy some you need it!! Sorry I can not help with the other questions!!
betta fish are perfectly content in a small space--10 gallons may be overkill. The most you could put in there is ONE!. Perhaps an idea would be to section your tank into 3-4 spaces with pieces of secured glass, or thick clear plastic...
DONT PUT THEM IN THE SAME CAGE?TANK!! Bata fish are also known as the chinese fighing or killing fish. There little fin things dangling off of them (on the bottom) are used to stragle there enemy. I suggest getting a glass flower pot, putting a small layer of rocks in it and water. with one bete fish. Get a small plant with plastic on the botom and get it so it fits on the top of the flower pot. Have the roots of the plant in the water so the Bata fish can hide in it. If you need helf finding a glass beta fish tank go to your pet store they should know what to do.
i guess you could do that.
