Could you fit 3 Oscars in a 450 litre tank2007-11-24 23:11:06

I already have one oscar whos mate died resently and know someone who is trying to get rid of their two oscars. This will probably be there home for the rest of there lives as i cant invest in anything bigger. Thanks!

Well, you really need 568 litres, but as you are taking in rescue fish, I want to make an exception. But, the facts remain as stated above, however. There is going to be mating and pairing and rival aggression depending on the combination of sexes and there could be a problem in the future, even if you had a proper size tank, but the reduced quarters will only add the to the aggressive nature of the fish. If this person who is giving these fish away can find a better home, I would suggest letting the fish go there. If there is no option except for death, I have to say take them and take your chances. Just watch them closely and often. Thanks for caring about our pets!

450 litre is 100 gallons i have 3 oscars a tire track eel and 2 plecos in a 65 gallon tank and they are fine so 100 gallons is more then enough room
Well its 120g actually and yes they might be fine, just watch there aggression.
450 L is large enough for 3 oscars However that would be 3 females. If you have multiple males the dominant one will start killing the other males. If you have one male and 2 females once the male picks his female they will likely kill off the loner female. So if these are big fish ready to pair off the best you can do is one male and one female or probably up to around 6 females in a 450 L tank
As long as you can control aggression and waste, they will be fine.
