Did your pregnant guppy do this or is this normal2007-11-24 23:11:08
You know how the gravid spot turns dark when they are pregnant? well mine has a gravid spot that is dark but every once in a wile it will turn really light almost clear than goes back to the dark color it does this a lot. What does it mean is it normal for it to do that? Is my guppy pregnant or what? She does have a big belly.
Answers:When my guppies are pregnant that also happens. It is usually a light orangy color in the morning, just after having the lights out all night, then it darkens up. I have no clue why it happens. My females who are not pregnant just stay that normal orangy color.
I think the reason for that is because the fry turns inside
The black you see are actually the eggs, so in whichever postition they are you might see a dark or a light colored gravid spot
Hope that helps
Good luck

This is normal and yes I would say your guppy is pregnant considering the females really always are. They can store sperm inside of themselves and become pregnant even without males at pretty much anytime. The normal amount of time between births is 28 days however.
