Do Fish Sleep

Not in the same way that we do (they don't have eyelids). But they do go into states of rest in which they tend to stay at the bottom of the aquarium.
Of course fish sleep! Everyone, including fish and other animals etc need to re-charge their batteries.
Most fish sleep either on the bottom, a rock, etc, but the only fish that doesn`t sleep lying down or still is the shark because their gills do not operate automatically and they have to keep on the move to allow water to pass through their gills.
They do this by gliding downwards at a very slow rate, allowing the water to pass through their gills, otherwise they would die. As they reach to bottom they swim upwards so they can start the downward process all over again.
Some fish sleep..some pretend to sleep and some just have a nap.
