Do I have to many fish2007-11-24 23:11:16

I have 1 iredescent shark 1 rainbow shark 2corys 2 columbian sharks and one bumblebee catfish in a 55G tank.I think I might need a bigger tank because the size the ID and the columbian sharks grow to.

currently, you tank is not overstocked, but soon will be, so pricing out a larger tank would be a good idea.

also just in passing, columbian sharks are actually brackish fish, but must eventually be acclimated to full marine perameters. from the time they are 4 inches to 6-8 inches, they need to be slowly acclimated to full saltwater. irredescent sharks also get very, very big, and would require a massive tank. they are really not suited for the home aquarium. i am not very familiar with the bumblebee cat so i can't add much info there, but i hope this helps. also, since your fish are bottom drellers, i would look for long tanks rather than high ones.

Your iridescent shark is supposed to grow to about 3-4 feet.

Rainbow shark is fine, corys-should have more of them, they prefer shoals of at least 3-5 minimum-of the same kind.

Columbian sharks require a brackish water set up.

I'd say you're going to need one super huge tank for that pangasius catfish(iridescent shark), and a separate brackish set up for the columbian, 55 should do ok for that one.

I have 20 fish in a 60 gallon tank. I was told at my local aquatic store, that the fish will only grow as big as the tank allows.

Just keep in mind that as the 'envioment' grows so will your fish. If you have alot of decorative stuff in the tank maybe take a few pieces out to give the fish a bit more space.

You should consider getting a larger tank if you think about getting more fish but you'll be fine as long as the fish don't grow.
