its very small, about the size of a rosy red feeder fish

I only have the bloodworms that float

Answers:

I have 2 Dinosaur bichirs (Senegal Bichirs is the correct name)

I feed them frozen blood worms, Freeze dried shrimp, krill, red shrimp (they really love this stuff) As for treats frozen squid and crickets. When they get bigger feed them high quality pellets that they can fit in there mouth.

Try to avoid feeder fish as they can get a taste for them and will refuse to eat anything else, these animals find there food by smelling it and take a first taste bite, if they like it they will swallow it whole. Try to feed it food the size of there head.

Also as for additional treats Butter worms, or meal worms, super worms when they are bigger, they really really love these don't feed it to them regularly probably once every 2 days as they are more of a treat.

What the Zoo's feed them is beef heart or cow heard chopped into pieces with added minerals and vitamins.

If you want to have fun(or as a treat also) then try to select some very very healthy looking feeder fish, don't give it to them when they are smaller than 4" or they will become accustomed to it. They love chasing them around and swallowing them. Don't give it to them regularly or they can get diseases and they arn't all that nutritional its more of a once in a blue moon treat that makes them feel more at home.

Remember try to get some plants or cover these fish don't really like the light and when it is on they like to hide under plants, logs or caves big enough for them.

They grow 12" remember that and the only thing stopping them from emptying an aquarium is there speed, they can also be aggressive to other fish towards there own kind competing for food, so if you have 2 and you want to feed them worms always drop 2. Later if you do have 2 one will grow bigger that one is the female and will be the dominate one, or if both are the same one usually grows faster than the other.
