How can you tell if a bird is a male or a female

the female is the one who churps alot.
You can't usually tell at this when they are very young.
However I found this information helpful:
"The cere the area above the beak where the parakeet's nostrils are. Male parakeets are blue, and females are pinkish. When parakeets are young, they are all the same color (pinkish), therefore you can't tell the difference between a male and a female. The male's cere will turn blue when he is about 3 months old".
It depends upon the type of bird.
