How can you tell the difference between bubble nesting and suffocating in a beta fish2007-11-24 23:09:40Answers:
Since Beta's breate air, I'd say that as long as your breathing so is he. It's building a nest.
If you look closely, than your can see your Betta making a bubble nest.
Good Luck

i think u need to buy a filter. when i first bought my beta i saw a bunch of bubbles in the top, so i went to petsmart and they suggested that i buy a filter. i bought the smallest one, and my fish has been living for a year and half. Plus is so much easier to clean.
If it dies it suffocated.
hes breathing its a nest
A bubble nest will look like foam on top of the water. A fish suffocating will be gasping for air and will then die. As long as a betta can reach the surface, it won't suffocate because it is a labrynth fish and has a primative lung.
