How do you find the number of gallons in a fish tank2007-11-24 23:33:44

I have a fish tank, and 7 fish. I need to know how big my fish tank is to put the water conditioner in it. How can I find this out?

Answers:

Measure it, then you can either multiply the length, width and height then divide by 231 or you can enter the measurements into one of the many sites that will figure it out for you.

take a piece of paper and pencil and measuring tape and find the measurement..length width and height then go to the petstore and compare..easy as that :D or just find an online site with aquariums and look at there product specs when you bring up the different tanks and compare length width height then read what gallon tank it is on that description :D gl

you can check that tank at the pet store, or you can do it yourself. fill water in those clear plastic water/milk jugs, pour into your tank and count how many u need to fill the tank. 1 jug = 1 gallon (unless stated otherwise on the jug)

Measure l x w x h or depth and call you local pet store or search it it should be pretty easy to figure out also a lot of people can just look at it and tell you what size it is.

usually it will be on the tank barcode. most companies that sell fish tank also put it on there in big bold fancy lettering. if it is not on the fish tank ask a sales person they will help you. good luck

Length in inches x Width in inches x Height in inches = cubic inches. Then go to Google and type in "(answer) cubic inches in gallons" and it will tell you how many gallons it is. So if your aquarium was 36 inches by 12 inches by 18 inches (36x12x18=7776) you would type "7776 cubic inches in gallons" into the google search bar. You can also type the dimensions into a search engine and an aquarium sales web site should show up that has an aquarium the same size and that will tell you the gallons.
