How far along is my cycle
How far along is my cycle2007-11-24 23:33:45
I have an ammonia reading of about .75 down from about 2.2 yesterday and a nitrite reading of about 3.0 up from 1.6 yesterday. How far along is the cycling of the tank and when can I put a couple of fish in there? (I had fish in for a week, none died, had to return them due to fin nipping, no fish for 3 days, but have been "feeding" the aquarium fish food to add waste and ammonia. )
Answers:Your cycle will be finished when your ammonia and nitrites are both zero. You can add fish then, but stock SLOWLY! When you add fish your tank is likely to go threw a "Mini-Cycle", meening you ammonia will spike, then nitrates. adding too many fish at once can result in more ammonia then your tank is able to handle. Good luck!!
Your cycle is finished when you don't see much of any ammonia, and nitrites. You are about halfway.
once the amonia reading hits zero and the nitrites do the same then you can add ur fish back in
about 6 weeks! but dont put bio-bacteria
