Is it OK if I leave him at work over the long weekend?

Answers:

yes. fish can survive several days without food.

keep in mind. there is no such thing as under feeding fish.

The goldfish should be okay. But I would take it home just as a precaution. One or two days,or okay for goldfish to go without food and still remain alive, but four is questionable(that is if your off Monday). It all depends on the fish and what's in the fishtank.

some can go a few days, depends if there is algae or other ways for them to eat inside the tank. (plants or other smaller fish)

Feed him well right before you leave. One weekend should be ok. If he dies, flush him down the toilet and go spend 50 cents on another one.no big loss.

Well, actually, there are dissolving shells for that job! You can buy them at your pet store. Their little curly shells that dissolve slowly, and release food. However, as soon as you get home, dispose of it. The brand name is: Wardley Vacation Food, and it can feed both tropical and goldfish. Don't worry, one of my goldfish lived on tropical food for a year and is still really healthy. ^_^
