How long could a pet fishes stay in the bag2007-11-24 23:33:51Answers:

I have been told no more than 1 hour

Depends on many things (temperature of the water, size of bag etc.) - but there will not be much oxygen for them so ASAP.
not very long. TAKE THEM OUT NOW!!

Basically about half a day.

10 days, people ship fish in the mail
It depends what the temperature is outside, how many fish are in the bag. I won't go more than an hour or an hour and a half.
get it a bowl or a tank. i was coming home from halifax (two hours away from my town) and i bought i fish when i came home it was dead. i would rather it dead anyway fish are not a good pet they suck i have one and i hate it id suggest a hamster there awseom i got one and so does my brother..
fore ever if you feed them i had mine in the bag for about 2 days but fed them every day then i bought a tank for them
you should take it out as soon as you can
Bags are intended for short term use to transport them from a store for example. The fish should be placed in it's permanent home as soon as possible
dont leave them in there too long, you can traumatize them.
If it's bagged as a typical taking the fish home from the store sort of thing, you can probably keep it bagged for 2 hours at most without stress problems assuming the fish was properly bagged, which isn't always the case in big stores like Petco, PetSmart, Walmart, etc.
I think its about an hour or two.
Not for very long. It also depends on the weather condition believe it or not. Water in a bag will cool down pretty fast. During the summer compaired to the winter will cool down at a slower rate when traveling home with your fish. Some stores use a air hose to put air in the bags, this however is not oxygen tanks (plain air) or catch air by grasping the back fast and closing it. For long travels it should be more air to water (but will cool down faster) and short travels, more water to air (water stays warmer). Also depends on the type of fish. Hardier one's can last maybe a max of 1 hour with being room temperature. Delicate fish like Neon Tetra's can die within 20 minutes of being in the bag still. Best thing to do if you are getting a lot of fish is to have the person put ie. 1 small fish per small bag and group the bags together in a box or larger store bag. This will help keep the oxygen level up and also heat.
If the bag is sealed not long you woul dhave to open it to allow the little thing air.
Usually an hour or two. I've heard of them surviving overnight in a well O2'd bag.
