How much electricity does an aquarium heater take up2007-11-24 23:34:50

How much does it use (15 gallon heater). Like one buck or so of electricity?

Answers:

If the heater is - say 50Watts and is on half the time (temp of the room will make a BIG difference here), then on average the heater is taking 25WH of power per hour

This equates to 40 hours per KWH - say 10p / 20c

So. four hours per penny or two hours per cent.

6p a day

42p a week

拢1.80 ish a month

拢22 approx per year

It should tell you on the box how many watts it uses. if you call your power company they should be able to tell you what they charge per watt or something like that
It all depends.

For your tank, a 75 watt heater is ideal.

But, it also depends on your room temperature difference.

The general rule of thumb is 5 watts per gallon. You can also either get a 50 or a 100

I recommend the Visi-Therm series of heaters
