I have three small Black Tetras, what would be a good bottom feeder to add to their aquarium2007-11-24 23:35:35

PetCo has some small crabs I was thinking about, or possibly an algae eater.

Answers:

Chinese algae eaters are agressive, and as they get larger, they tend to stop eating algae and start eating the rest of the fish. Plecos, although for the most part docile, can grow to two feet, and aren't suitable for small aquariums in the long run (although many stores will take one that is outgrowing its tank as trade for food or supplies). Cory cats would definitely be the best for you. The like to be with others of their kind, so get at least three or four (and they can be a lot of fun to watch!) You may also try a siamese algae eater (not to be confused with a chinese), although they may be hard to find. Ghost shrimp (or cherry shrimp) can also be a nice addition, as they help algae control and can be fun to watch.

Again, though, as far as a bottom feeder goes, cory cats would be great.

you could put in a chinese algae eater or a placostamus. they are verry good fish. i have had the same ones for 3 yrs.

NO chinese algae eaters or plecs. They grow huge 1 and 2 feet respectivly, and CAE get aggresive and will kill other fish. A few corys would be nice, but only in a tank of 20 gallons or larger. Also, keep them in groups of 4+
