I have tons of tiny white starfish in my salt water tank They came in on live rocks Are they good or2007-11-24 23:36:35Answers:

It really depends on the type but they sound like asternia starfish and they can be ones that you want to avoid to me as they will eat small polyps.

It depends on how big your tank is, what you have in it, etc. They are like snails; they'll keep your things in the tank clear of algae and junk, but they will over populate everything else. Keep them to a minimum, if at all possible. Or, get some type of fish that will eat them. They wont eat them all, just enough to keep from over-crowding the tank. GOOD LUCK!!

they are fine , most of them wont survive once you do a partial water change.

The star fish are called sand sifters. They are actually very beneficial to the tank. Depending on how big of a tank you have. You could take back some of the stars to the store you bought the live rock from, and resell the stars to them.
