I have two tetra fish in a small tank and2007-11-24 23:36:40

one seems to be bullying the other into a cornerand won't let him out. Is this normal. I have a 3 gallon tank does that make a difference?

Okay, I think I might be able to help. Tetras are schooling fish, and are constantly picking at each other and getting in eachother's business. I think you need to keep more together, so the top fish won't just concentrate on the other, he'll have more to keep track of. Seeing as how you have a 3gal tank, you might not be able to keep more than one more in there though. Don't know if adding just one will fix it, but it should help.

And LOL's to those who acted like tetras are bettas! =)

seperate them quick they will fight and kill each other also dont put there containers next to each other or they will try to fight threw the glass and hurt themselves

Yeah, you really need to seperate them. They are Beautiful fish, but fiesty if placed together even when you want to breed them you should if the tank is big enough place a screen between them or if not place the other in a bowl until you can. Have fun but they are loners..

they are called "fighting fish" look it up online, it is because they are suppose to be solitude fish, hurry before they kill each other!

All fish have a pecking order of sorts. If there are only a couple of them, one will try to establish dominance over all the others.
