I just bought a bala shark and a irredescent shark Whats the best care options, tanks, food, andstuf
I wasn't even told if they're freshwater or saltwater. I've been searching the internet for information.
Answers:Bala sharks get up to 10-14 inches in the aquarium. They require a tank that is at least 55 gallons to have enough room to grow, swim freely and turn around. It is also a good idea to have several bala sharks too since they prefer to be in groups (at least 5) The Iridescent shark gets extremely large and up to 4 feet (usually up to 18 inches, but anything is possible). They should be kept in at least 200 gallons. They also prefer to remain in groups of at least 5. Both species perfer dark settings in the tank and lots of hiding places and tunnels to go in when skittish. Their diet should consist of vegetable based items, flakes, freeze dried worms, etc.
They are both freshwater. You need a big tank, as both will get BIG, especially the irredescent! They can get a foot long! Your bala will be more of a top/middle feeding fish, while your irredescent will be more of a bottom/ middle feeding fish. That said, the bala will eat flake and brine, the irredescent, brine and bloodworms. Balas like to be in groups of other balas.
Next time I would be SURE to find out all of you can before you a buy a fish, otherwise you could end up with something that you didn't want. I have seen this too many times after years in the pet trade. People want something for how it looks, and get mad when you tell them it will eat all their other fish, or won't fit in their tank, etc. If you have what you need to care for these fish properly, then go for it, but if not, I would say take them back to the store, and do some research on what kind of fish will work for you when it come to care, space, etc. :-)
They are both Freshwater Fish. They are Classified as Community Fish, but they can be aggresive at Times. They enjoy being kept with other Fish. Just Feed them Tropical Fish Flakes, that is the best for them.
try going to www.wetwebmedia.com. it is the best site for fishkeeping.
They are freshwater fish and unless you have a very big tank you shouldnt have bought them, they require at least a 30 gallon tank for just ONE of each, Food: Obnivores they eat anything ( meaning vegetable or meat diets)
