The rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water, so it depends on how big the fish are. with 150 gallons if you use 1 fish for every 3 or 4 gallons the fish will grow to fit the tank.

Goldfish tend to grow faster than most other fish. It seems that the recommendation is one fish for every 10 gallons. Remember, the bigger the tank, the bigger the fish will get. Don't go putting 150 goldfish in the tank because they will quickly grow and the tank will be overcrowded. Better safe than sorry.

That will depend on what kind. There are many varieties of goldfish out there, some can grow to be very large. Also are you sure your getting goldfish, and not tropical fish? Goldfish are a more dirty fish and that also needs to be taken into account for how many. You dont want to overcrowd them and get an overly dirty tank. Also with a new tank, add fish very slowly and not all at once. Get only a few and wait a week or two before adding more. You should also be prepared for loss of some fish.
