This is not something the shark can do directly. If the Elephant nose has a broken back, it is most likely caused by darting into the glass or an aquarium decoration. However, there are some diseases that can cause contortions in fish. You might look up freshwater fish diseases online and see if you find something that you recognize.

Either way, disease or injury, I do not think the fish will straighten out. It is possible, but I doubt it. It is possible that the fish will still live a long life if it is not a disease (unless you cure it of course), but as long as the fish can still swim, eat, etc. it may just carry on like nothing has changed.

After reading your previous questions, you've got some serious fish issues. If these are all serious questions, then you need to stop impulse buying fish, and do research on them before you buy them to check their compatibility, and I don't mean taking the word of the pet store employee as research.

Now, lecture over, sounds like you may have to consider euthanizing him. Use clove oil for the most humane way to do it. Do a search for fish euthanasia, should be directions for using it. Don't flush it.

I'm with Tiki - impulse fish-buying is bad news. The fish are trusting you with their lives - they have no control over what happens to them once they're in your tank. You are responsible for making sure their tankmates are compatible. You are responsible for making sure they have clean water (with weekly water changes), and enough food. You are responsible for making sure that their tank is large enough.
