I was thinking of buying a female beta to add to my tank but was wondering if id be okay with the ot2007-11-24 23:09:41

I havea10 gal tank with 2female guppy 2zebra danio 1Small crab 5 Ghost Shrimp 1African dwarf frog 1Black neon tetra and 1Platty

Answers:

One female betta will be fine in with those fish. As was stated, you are right at the limit of fish that a 10 g tank will accomodate with a good filter on it.

Only the male bettas are fighters, and only with other male bettas. The males will also kill female bettas if the female is not ready to spawn with them.

A group of female bettas with sort out a pecking order within the group, but do not fight to the death at all.

BTW, it is spelled betta and is pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah!

Bettas arent all killers, some are more mild and it should be ok with the other fish in the tank.

bettas with guppies are bad idea, just invest in more guppies. plus they're just as colorful anyway. Bettas will chase the guppies around thinking they're other bettas. Or you could just go with all female guppy tank.

The best answer to this question is you already have enough fish in that tank. If you add one more it will just make the tank dirtier.

You have several different types of small schooling in your tank. All are minimal weight on your bio-load. A female betta should be fine.

Betas are fish that should be put in a tank by themselves. They are aggressive fish. You shouldn't put them with anything else.
