also, i put then together in my old beta fish tank. is this okay? how long will they last?

Answers:

Yes this is normal. Goldfish can be orange, white, brown, green, or mixes of these colors.

Assuming you don't know much about goldfish, here are some tips.

1. If they are common they will get very big and will need a 50 gallon tank when full grown.(you should just get a 10g and they'll do fine, just not too happy)

2.They do not need a heater. They can live in below freezing water.

3.They need a filter so don't put them in a bowl.

4.Get food that is made just for goldfish. They can also eat the insides of peas and corn as treats.

Some live for 20 yrs!

My nana has had goldfish for over 5 years ( the same ones ) they are 5 years old and thats really long
Them been white is normal, Its probibly a commet goldfish, And puting them in a betta tank will not do, Goldfish require large tanks, I suggest you get a 20 gallon for now, How long will the last in the betta tank? 2-3 months if youre lucky,

That's fine. Not all goldfish have to be gold. But watch out for red marks or anything on it!

For fish to survive they need big tanks (10~20 gallons at least). You also need to constantly check the PH and temperature of the water. Buy a book on goldfish to learn about the diseases they can catch and how to prevent/cure it.

yes that is normal, i used to have goldfish four of them 2 where white -pink all four of them lasted 7 years. Don't put them in a beta fish bowl they won't live long they need oxygen. trust me i used to have 6 two died because i put them in a beta fish bowl and they ran out of oxygen they almost died but i put in the rest a tank and with a filter an they lived for 7 years.
Hi Paul, Goldfish come in many shades apart from gold. From black through olive, grey, silver, white, lemon, pink, orange [of course!], red & brown. They are also prone to changing colour partly or wholly at any time too although they tend to get lighter as they age this is no indication.

They will be ok very temporarily in the Betta tank although you need to be organising something much bigger & more robust within a few days. I would suggest a 20 gallon, lidded, filtered tank as an absolute minimum as they may be with you for many years. The attached link should answer many of your queries although as you obviously have had a Betta at some time your knowledge of fish care will come in handy-remember they need treated water, good luck.
