Answers:Well - I can't really see your farts converting over into the Nitrogen cycle of your tank, but have fun trying.
To answer your other question about WD Crystals will significantly reduce fish stress against any sudden increase in ammonia levels (especially during the break-in period).
I guess the question is are you setting up a new tank? Or was the spike caused by adding new media to your Bio Filter? Also - is this a Freshwater or Marine tank? If it's a Marine (Salt Water) tank then you can forget about WD crystals because they will do nothing for you.

Don't use the crystals, it'll just interrupt the cyle. Do small water changes 10-20% everyday till the tank finishes cycling. Looks like it might be close to finishing, just wait for the nitrates.
