If I have an open tank for my Betta, will it jump out2007-11-24 23:36:03
I heard that Bettas jump out of their tanks if there is no lid. Is it true?
Answers:No. You need an open tank as they breath air. Just don't put so much water in it that they can get out.
Why don't you just make life easier and get a net roof thingy for the tank? sheesh!
mine did
no i have bettas and the one has a vase and the other has a small tank they dont jump out at all!
No they don't. If the water is filled to the rim probably but they don't really do that. They just sit around basically. You are fine.
not mine coz i didn't put that much water..maybe 2/3 n it live 4 two years
I've had bettas for years. They never jumped out. But you may want to keep a light cover on the tank just in case. They go to the surface and make air bubbles, so don't seal the tank. good luck.
put a screen over just in case
Yes, it happens mostly. Purchase a roof 2 ensure safety. get an aerator for air circulation so that u need 2 change water only once in a week or month. If no aerator, u have 2 change water daily !
No.
My friend has three Beta's none have jumped out of their tank yet.
mine doesnt. he's been in an open tank for months.
Mine jumped out, and my dog ate it. I would recommend a top on the tank. Believe me, if you want to keep your fish, it's worth it.
This is not true.
As long as you don't fill it so full that it would be easy too. Also don't put nothing in the tank that it could get stuck on the bottom due to they breath air.
Well I used to have Betta fish they would fight so I bought them a tank that had this wierd wall and a cap with holes so yeah you should put a lid on it
I had a betta in a gallon bowl with five shoots of bamboo. When I came home from work I went to feed him and could not find him. I friend of mine and I were looking bowl for him and then she said what is that. It was my fish dead on the ground. I will never buy one again.
Bettas are good jumpers and don't always need an excuse to jump out, though poor water quality may send them heading for the hills faster. I had a betta jump through a hole in my tank hood the size of a quarter. Not only do I recommend a cover for all betta tanks, but I also suggest taping or screening over any small openings around filters and heaters.
Not just Bettas but also some other fish too and that's why you usually want a cover for the tank so it doesn't happen. But it's not 100% Bettas will jump out of their tank but it does happen.
