If I were to go and buy guppies today, how long would it take until there are little ones swimming a2007-11-24 23:36:05

I got some about 4 days ago and am curious

After giving birth, the female is ready for conception within a few hours. If a male does not mate with the female soon after birth, the female can use stored sperm from the previous mating.

It depends if you have males AND females.if theyr'e all males pack a lunch! It won't be long, they reproduce quickly.keep your eyes on the females.they plump-up rather big , and when they "give birth" the whole tank will try to eat the fry.

see it depends on the water it is and the types of fishes which are with the guppies. Actually it takes 6 weeks for guppies to breed. since you have bought it recently it will take some time for the couple to settle down in your aquarium and then breed so good luck.
