If cane toads have taken up residence in a gold fish pond, will that cause the water to become toxic2007-11-24 23:35:58
It is not a lagre pond - maybe 3 foot x 2 foot with two goldfish, who have (as far as I know) enjoyed an uninterrupted existence.
Will the cane toads poison the water, or are the fish immune to such things. My thoughts are that the toads will only secrete posiion if agitated..but I could well be wrong?
Any advice? Thanks guys
(I'm in Qld, Australia)

Not worth taking a chance as they breed year-round and the tadpoles are too good a snack for fish to pass up. This site has traps for them

no i have them same thing and my fish are alright when i see the toads i get them out.
Hi, Cane Toads (I'm assuming Bufo Marinus) won't poison the water just by their presence unless one happens to die, it will foul the water very quickly so keep an eye out! They will also eat small fish if they get the chance.
Good Luck.
i would remove the toads when possible, although they don;t live in the water they are probably there to breed and you don't want any more
