I don't know too much about genetics. But if u did mate two calico goldfish, u may OR may NOT have the same color. it depends on the gene. the female and male could have recessive genes that could pass onto the baby fish, therefore making a different color.

I doubt that it's a guarantee that you'll have calico babies. Even if the calico gene is dominant, there's still a recessive gene in there that could show.
Maybe you'd remember the idea behind punnett squares back in high school biology.
yes you would get a few calico babies but the majority would be light to white colored, it's best to breed a calico to a good solid red goldfish i have been breeding shubunkins for 35 yrs
