a 10 gallon tank with filter would be much better as your 1 gallon setup will require you to do water changes every day.

people at the fish store like to use the 1 inch of fish per gallon rule. i would think with something as small as guppies and with air, you'd be fine with 6.

I would put no more then 5 in there, they need there space to ya know. You dont want to cram a bunch of fish(of what ever species they are) in one tank together

1 or at most 2. If you want fish get a fish take with filtration. It is kinder on your fish. You will need to do constant water changes on a 1 gallon bowl which stresses the fish to no end. Not to mention it will wear on you too. And remember guppies like mollies are live breeders and they will breed in a drop of water so you might get more than you ask for!
