If you are going to be involving yourself with a serious breeding operation with guppies you will need to have several tanks. Not because of the volume of fry, but more to separate males and females and young from the breeders.

Platys are technically a brackish water fish, so they need to have some salt in their water. always keep more females that males so that the females don't get bothered constantly. If your tank has lots of plants and places to hide you can raise them in the same tank as the parents (with some losses of course) But better to put mom into a separate tank right before she gives birth and remove her immediatley after. Feed the babies fry food or very finely ground flake food. Keep their water parameters the same as the adult tank.
Platys are livebearers. Plants and java moss are an advantage to the baby Platys, as they can hide from the parents that may eat their fry. Breeding livebearers is easy, so you only have to wait a while to get young in your tank. The babies should be removed from their birth tank as soon as they are born and placed into a separate tank to be certain they survive. The parents are not as carnivorous as other live bearers so dont be too worried if the babies are not hiding.

Feed your adults a varied diet including earthworm flakes, brine shrimp and pureed beef heart to get large batches and maintain good condition of the females.

Fry will easily accept baby brine shrimp and it is the only food that they need to be offered. The other thing that will maximise growth is clean water. Which means lots of water changes. these must start at the end of the second week, and only very small amounts to begin with, just half a jam jar full daily initially and slowly increase the amount until 25 to 30 % of the water is being changed daily. If this routine is followed the fry will be ready for sale in half the normal time and will reach their full potential as adults
