After taking a couple years break from keeping fish, I've started up a new small tank (6.3 liters, ~1.66 gallons). I've noticed that if my fish swims in the area that the air pump lets the bubbles out, my fish has trouble swimming. Will a small current in a very limited area be bad for him?
Answers:A small amount of current will not bother him at all. Will in fact keep him stimulated and heathy , dont blast him with current , keep it slight and he will be fine. Bettas should not be kept in small bowls with out daily water changes! just because they can live in stagnate dirty water doesnt mean its good for them !!
Yes, air pumps are safe for bettas. I have had fighting fish in the past and they have done very well with a small air pump.
I have no clue. It probably won't hurt him unless he has a tiny bowl.
No it won't hurt him as long as the bubbles are to brisk. You don't want to exhaust him to death.
He should be ok - betas are cool fish - if you want to just keep him in a bowl with no filter or pump he will still thrive. Good luck and be careful what fish you add to your tank!!
no don't use an air pump my daughters betta just died because we had an air pump and they don't need a pump unless the tank has a lid and even then i would be carefull about how strong of a pump you use
Betta's are top breathers meaning they do not need added air in the tank especially one that small. If you want to use an air pump I would suggest you get a larger tank such as a 10 gal. otherwise no he does not need an air pump. Betta's in the wild are found in very small pools of water almost stagnant water.
They typically don't like a lot of water agitation, but I don't know - give it a try, and if it starts trying to jump out - you'll know it's a bad idea.
betta fishes dont need to have an air pump
you should mention what kind of filter u r using, for beta and for small tank u need under gravel filter or sponge filter do best.
there fine and a good idea to keep the water from not standing
Sure, it'd work out unless you have a small bowl or vase that you put it in.
