Is it Legal in New Jersey to own a largemouthbass/sportfish in an aquarium2007-11-24 23:11:33Answers:

depends on when are where you got it from, but generally i wouldnt advise you to take it out of the wild. it is probably against the law and you can face high fines for taking a fish out of the wild.

Now i have a large mouth, But i must stress that this fish is on my land and on a man made pond system, with fishes that were bought and stocked over 30 years ago by my family.

Again i wouldnt recommend it unless you are like in my case.

no
you would have to check with the state laws. I do however know that NJ and Texas have the most lenient laws that i know of as far as what animals can be kept as pets. Permits may be required but youd have to check NJ state law.
