Is it good to feed your fish different fish foods or just the flakes2007-11-24 23:37:16

I know for like dogs they say to keep their food the same, just wondering if this was the same for fish?

Answers:

I feed regular flakes, color enhancing flakes, spirulina flakes, and freeze dried blood worms. My corys get algae wafers and shrimp pellets along with any fallen flake food (that the tetras don't get). I think a variety of foods is essential for healthy fish, their diets in the wild vary quite a bit.

My dogs do get the same food every day, but a variety of treats.

no, it is good for fish to have variety. you will notice fish to have likes, dislikes and individual preferences. But in addition to flkes, depending on the species they might like a little bit of worm or meat. little bits of vegetables, etc. just don't put greasy stuff, soupy stuff or stuff that will just rot in their tank. no need to make a cleaning disaster.
Variety is the spice of life. Feed them frozen food, dried foods, live foods, pellets, and flakes. They'll be happy.

They tell you to feed dogs the same stuff all the time? that can't be right.

While variety can be good for fish, normality in their diet is quite important as well. With any animal feed, you begin cancelling out the benefits one or another food will have on whatever you're feeding (this case being your fish) the more you switch it up.

My suggestion would be to use a high quality daily diet and utilize products such as frozen foods or live foods as a snack. Concentrating their regular meals on one formula allows your fish to truly bank on what that product can offer.
