Is it okay to have an aquarium near my stereo2007-11-24 23:11:36

i just set up a 20 gallon freshwater tropical tank... and have a few fish already. problem is, i put the tank in the only spot it would fit in my room which is right next to my stereo. i was wondering if it was okay to play music with the speakers on either side of the tank within 5 inches of the glass... i dont usually play music loud, just loud enough to hear well. any help?

Answers:

As long as you aren't blasting the music, the fish won't mind. Also, do not play the music when it is dark in the room, this will really stress them out because when it is dark, the "sleep". If they are startled from their sleep, they might dart and hurt themselves...

i dont think this is a good idea. the reason is of because of the vibrations, just because you cant feel the vibration they can probably feel it.

hope i helped!

Your fish should be fine as long as the speakers aren't blasting into the side of the tank.

A side effect that you WILL have to look out for is the water evaporating from your tank. With heaters and lights in your tank, you are going to have a bit evaporate everyday, this will make the air around your tank, (and your stereo), very moist. It should be alright, but just keep it in mind.

Hope this helps! :-)

ur fishes will get shock with ur audio..avoid that
It's ok if you want your fish to be shaken UNTIL THEY DIE!
Yopu should be fine if you dont BLAST it and have lots of low end bass. While i was in college my room mate was an audio engineering major and just imagine his system. My fish never seemed to be the least bit bothered by it. They are still alive today and have moved 3 times since. So just dont worry to much. We had 3 seperate amps with crossovers 1 amp for catching everything below 80hz one for all the mids and one for the highend. Then crossovers to blend the in betweens. HAHA it was such a sick system i heard it from 2 blocks down the street and my fish were ok. We didnt really play it loud at night so when the fish are "sleeping" just keep it down.
move that tank, too much vibrations will cause stress and death to the fishies.
