Pangasius "see" mostly by smell, so they are not able to dodge obsticles very well when they dart. Before you accuse your Elephant Nose of assault, my best guess is the shark did it to itself. If this is the case then you might be able to take the steps to keep it from happening in the future and try keeping this fish again. Good luck!
I agree with Tony's answer. I've had a few elephant noses before, and they weren't that aggressive. And judging by the set up of their mouths, I'd find it hard to believe he could do that kind of damage. Just my opinion though.
Elephant noses are nonagressive. My guess is either it was self inflicted due to their skidishness or the red tail shark.. Red tail sharks can be very picky.. If you like the look of a red tail shark i would recommend the rainbow shark. much more docile, they are slightly longer and all fins are red.
