Is it safe to put a male Beta fish in with other small fish2007-11-24 23:37:20

just make sure it's not a big fish tank.

the beta's dont breath thru their gills, they take in actual oxygen. if they run out of air, and are in a big tank, they can actually drown if they dont make it up for air in time

They will get along if they like each other just don't put betas with betas. so when you put them together just keep an eye on them. Good luck.

Bettas are actually labeled as "semi-aggressive". They are always aggressive with other Bettas, but may or may not get along with other fish. Just make sure that you have plenty of room in the tank if you want to try it (no more than one inch of fish per gallon of water) and make sure that the other fish are "community" or "semi-aggressive" and that they are all roughly the same size as the Betta. Good luck. It might work, but don't be too surprised if he kills them.

I thought they killed other fish. It would be better to ask the place where you bought the fish. You don't want anything to happen to the other fish.

i work at a fish store, yes betta can live with other fishes as long as it is not another male betta. they are communical fish and love company..if you notice the water above the betta is bubbly it is because he is mating and creating his bubble nest.

i tried before .. :-P and its ok with my small fishes and big fishes (angel fishes) but only guppies been attack because of its beautiful fins ..
