Is it smart to have a fish tank in a one bedroom apartment
I don't think most people are understanding that this is about a weight issue. A smaller tank would probably be okay, weight-wise. I have a 60 gallon tank in my livingroom, which is about equivalent to 710 pounds, which is the estimate including gravel and water. I put it up against a wall next to my front door and which outer wall is part of a stairwell. I live on the first floor. Short of the closet, this is probably the strongest structural point of the flooring in my entire apartment and I felt pretty confident that things would be okay. When I filled up the tank, it does lean ever so slightly forward where the flooring is the weakest and I really watched it for a while to see if it would continue to "sink," but it seems okay, but I will need to be very careful about making sure the flooring does not get wet and compromise the structure or I and the fish could be in real trouble. I would never, never have put such a large aquarium in my apartment had I lived on the second floor. So, yes, I would agree with the above and say maybe as large as a 30 gallon you could get away with if you have bad flooring or live on upper floors.
Sure why not? AS long as the fish has enought room
why wouldnt it be? as long as you take care of it and its not taking up the whole room.
As long as you have a free outlet for the filter and what not. Also make sure that your fish tank isn't near any windows.
why not just make sure to pick a fish tank that fits your space, and with good ventilation everythings fine the rest is up to you and the care you will give to it
If its a small tank and you can connect a filter sure. Its not like the fish needs to use the bathroom or have its own place to hang out its a fish tank.
Sure, but do not put the tank near a window where it can get alot of sunlight.
i keep mine in my bedroom -- i think its very relaxing. if you have something to put it on then i don't see the problem.
