Is my Betta about to die

Is my Betta about to die2007-11-24 23:37:25

My Betta was in a fight with another fish. His fins have been shredded and he hasn't been eating. He is about to die right?

Answers:

If you want him to live or at least to give him a chance to live I suggest you do the following:

Treat him with an antibiotic such as tetracycline. THis will help to prevent fin rot from his open wounds and fins.

Change his water regularly. This will help prevent bacterial build-up in his water.

Try feeding him different things; dried blood worms, pellets, baby brine shrimp. Avoid live food are frozen live food because it can carry deadly bacteria that he is easily suspectable to right now. If he was well fed he can live two weeks without eating. My betta got sick with septiciemia and did not eat for two weeks no matter what I tried. He started wating again so I don't how long they can go without food but I know it is a at least two weeks if they refuse to eat. Continue to offer him food. Pester him with it. I would alwyas grab the food with a long pair of tweezers and tap it against his mouth. Eventually at the end of two weeks he did take it.

and whatever you do don't give up on him!

The directions for treatment with any antibiotic is on the package. I hope he gets well and I hope this helps.

It doesn't sound very hopeful.
I had a Beta that his skin started to peel off and I thought he was going to die but he lived a few weeks longer.just wait and see what happens
